They say first impressions are fundamental, so what better way to get to know Florence than to begin with a leisurely stroll through its medieval streets, mingling with the locals and just soaking up the atmosphere. There will always be a surprise around the corner - a towering cathedral, a world famous sculpture proudly surveying his square, a seven hundred year old bridge buzzing with life.
Florence was founded by Julius Caesar in 59 BC, so there are more than two thousand years of history to discover! Of course the city's golden age was the Renaissance with its hot bed of artistic geniuses. A paradise for art lovers, with so many masterpieces in such a small space.
You cannot live by art alone though! A cappuccino break along the way in one of the stylish bars is a must, a gelato or two is never too much, a browse through the newly refurbished San Lorenzo gastronomy market to tickle your tastebuds! And for those incorrigible shoppers amongst you; leather ateliers, goldsmiths, potters, engravers, the list is endless!
All you need is an open mind, a pair of walking shoes and leave the rest up to me!
